All About the Eras Tour Singapore

As I stepped off the plane from Cambodia to Singapore, I saw a girl in a Taylor Swift hoodie. Taylor Swift's impact on the global music scene is undeniable, and her Eras Tour was the highest-grossing tour of all time–the power of Swifties conquered "Elton John's years-long Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour for the top spot."

The "Eras Tour" marked a pivotal moment in Taylor Swift's career, showcasing her evolution as an artist across different musical eras. From her country roots to her pop star persona, Swift's journey has been one of constant growth and reinvention, and this tour celebrated that journey in a captivating way. The concert in Singapore was a monumental event for Swift's fans in the region, drawing thousands of enthusiastic supporters to witness her live performance. The venue was filled with excitement and anticipation as fans eagerly awaited the show's start, knowing they were about to embark on a musical journey through Swift's iconic eras.

Naturally, Taylor Swift's over two-hour hour show would garner attention from all over the world. The global pop star is a staple in every schoolgirl experience no matter where they are. Singapore's prime minister saw the opportunity and success that Taylor Swift would bring to Singapore in tourism. By signing an exclusivity deal with Taylor Swift as the only stop in Southeast Asia, the Singaporean prime minister had executed his mastermind plan. The effects were clear; personally, my hotel was full of tourists just for the concert. The Washington Post stated, "Swift's six sold-out concerts, which run from March 2 to 9, are expected to bring in an estimated $260 million to $375 million in tourism receipts, Erica Tay, Maybank director of macro research, told The Washington Post." The success of the Eras Tour has solidified Taylor Swift's influence on the world stage.

Getting to the stadium early is expected for swifties to avoid long waits for security checks and waiting hours in line for merch. The merchandise was a hot item with sizes selling out quickly and Swifties getting to the venues as early as 7 AM, just to score all desired items in their sizes. My experience waiting for merchandise was over two hours and my sizes were unavailable. Undoubtedly, the merchandise raised even more money for the show. Before entering the stadium, it's a tradition to trade the friendship bracelets with other Swifties around the stadium. The friendly atmosphere was welcoming and heartwarming. After picking up all the merchandise and getting through security, everyone started scanning their tickets at the gate. This moment is one of the most heartstopping moments, fortunately, my tickets scanned through, but there are countless stories of unfortunate scams where tickets were proven to be fake at the gate.

Seeing Sabrina Carpenter open up with her hit songs made me anticipate Taylor's appearance more as her opening act ended. When the screen displayed the iconic midnight clock with the ticking numbers, the lights dimmed and the stage came to life. Under the sunset-colored feathers for Lover Era, Taylor Swift emerged, opening the show with a high-energy performance that set the tone for the evening. The stage setup was elaborate, featuring stunning visuals, intricate choreography, and state-of-the-art lighting effects that added depth and dimension to the performances. I couldn't believe what I was seeing in person (the speakers were louder than I expected as well). The screams for Taylor as she first popped out of the feathers were deafening but only served to boost my adrenaline.

Her first "era" to open was her Lover album. The cheery, pink vibe hyped up the audience. During the song "Lover", I started tearing up at the lyrics. The concert was a nostalgic journey through Swift's musical evolution. Each song was accompanied by mesmerizing visuals and elaborate stage production, enhancing the overall experience for the audience.

Aside from the music, Taylor Swift also incorporated storytelling elements into the concert, sharing personal anecdotes and insights behind some of her most beloved songs. This added a layer of intimacy and connection with the audience, making the concert feel more personal and meaningful. When she shared that her mother had been raised in Singapore, the audience felt a personal connection. Since I went on the last night, Taylor and Sabrina were both extra disheartened to leave Singapore and made it very clear that they loved this show more than the rest which made the show genuine.
