Food Review #2: Chiyoda
Chiyoda is a small Japanese restaurant known for its katsudon and homemade soba noodles. Find it on St 288 in BKK.

Finding a good place to eat might look easy but really never is. A "good" restaurant is defined in my book by 3 factors: the vibe, the service, and most importantly, the food. To me, Chiyoda is a 3 out of 3. The overall vibe inside takes me back to a local ramen shop in Japan a few years back. It is small but very cozy and minimalist. The place only has a few tables but I guess that's what makes it even more special. The servers in Chiyoda makes you feel welcomed in their restaurant, something that is hard to do (they try too hard, you will feel uncomfortable, they don't try at all, it's just bad service).
The food there is amazing. There is a variety to choose from but my own personal favorite is the Katsudon. The rice is cooked perfectly and not soggy, the eggs are soft and fluffy, but most importantly, the meat is very tender and perfectly fried. You'd be surprised at how rare good Katsudon is in Phnom Penh. Most other restaurants (that will not be named, no shade here) have Katsudons that are watery, with overcooked meat overcoated with breadcrumbs. I would 100% recommend this place.
