It's Venom.

(awww look at that smile)

Let me just start off by saying that the critics were too harsh on Venom. The movie has its flaws but it doesn't deserve a 28% on rotten tomato. I personally don't hate it or was in love with it like I was with Infinity War. But I would have preferred it to be rated R since it would match the tone of Venom more. The movie did stretch the beginning too long and the villain was just another typical rich guy that possessed a god-like complex. The movie had a number of comic relief scenes that the audience laugh. However, the number of comic relief scenes the movie had would have made more sense if the movie was intended to be more intense (the R rating that got taken out during the editing process). The movie still had a handful of swear words and "violent" scenes in it.

The movie received the same rotten tomato score as Suicide Squad (notoriously known for being super bad but then again, it was DCEU) but was better in many other ways. If you were to compare Venom to the recently released Marvel films it wouldn't even come close but then again it was Sony that made the movie. Overall Venom was redeemed from that horrifying portrayal from Spiderman 3 which makes it worth it to watch.

[SPOILERS] [SPOILERS] [SPOILERS]

Now that you have prepared yourself for the spoilers, let me go in deeper in my review. There were a few issues I had with the movie. The first one is that Venom was supposed to conquer earth and eat every human with his million other colleagues, how did he suddenly decide to stop Riot (his leader) from going back to their home-planet to get more symbiotes to invade earth out for the blue? I know, I know, he said it's because of Eddie and that he's a loser back at his own planet but that's weak! He had only bonded with him for only a few days and before that, he was ready to eat all other human beings without a second thought.

Another problem was that the movie didn't get interesting until Eddie broke into the lab and bonded with Venom. Which raises another plot hole: how did he and the doctor so easily break into the lab? I understand how she had access to the whole place but shouldn't the place be crawling with armed guards? When she was at the gate to show her ID, the guard just carelessly looked at the ID for a second and just let her in. He didn't scan the card to make sure it was real or that he didn't even bother to check the car. When they arrived at the building, we only see one guard on duty? The so-call cages were so easily broken, and Eddie just hit it with a fire extinguisher a few times, easily cracking it. When Eddie was captured in the hospital after Venom was forced out of him and then was saved by venom who was bonded with his ex-fiance (who got into a serious relationship just six months after they broke up!) what were the chances that Venom was compatible with both Eddie and his ex-fiance!?

Now that I have finished talking about the negative aspects about the movie, let's move on to the positives. The comic relief were pretty funny, like when Venom tried to be Eddie's wing-man and help me get back with Anne (his ex-fiance). The action scenes were intense, and the final result of how Venom look was a drastic improvement compared to the Spiderman 3 one. Watching how Venom and Eddie interact was really fun; Venom also has a lot of witty comebacks to comments and actions; for instance, he chose not to jump off the building so Venom called him a [insert the worst insult you can think of](the word is inappropriate for this blog due to us being funded by a christian school).
