Looking Back: High School Vball Season Recap
Bump! Set! Spike! Get the insight on what our volleyball players think of this season.
Diamondna: It's quite bittersweet. I'm sad that it's my last one and knowing that I won't be playing next year, but I'm happy to know that it's in good hands and that we were able to accomplish many things as a team this year.
Luke: I'm sad that we were not able to bring home the gold this year but also was so blessed to play with the best team I have ever played with.
Merica: I feel sad but super grateful for the experience.
Ricky: Knowing that this year was my last year that I will be able to play volleyball is very hard to take in because it is very unlikely that I will be pursuing volleyball in college.
Kristen: Sad because I really like volleyball, but especially because I'm going to miss my team a lot. Getting to know these girls better through playing alongside them and just experiencing life together has made my time at Logos so much better.
Darewin: Knowing it is my last year playing volleyball at logos, it honestly feels kind of bittersweet. I made a lot of memories with the boys and played really hard with them, but this team is unique to me and playing with any other team will not be the same as playing with the boys.
Diamondna: I think the best moment was when we came 1st place in our tournament in Bangkok!! We worked hard and we really fought through the 6 games that day, so it felt really good to win and to bring it home. Also, it was always a personal dream to win in Bangkok, so it felt even better to have achieved that.
Luke: Some of my favorite moments were our games against Ekemai and are game against ISPP in the final tournament. I also love to play against Nisc because we always have competitive games with them and we are friends with their guys.
Merica: Winning in bangkok and bangkok adventures with my babes ❤
Ricky: Best moment of volleyball would be when I was able to set for my hitters.
Kristen: Team parties and going to BKK and bonding with my team :)
Darewin: The best moments were when we were in Bangkok because we were able to bond as a team and also learn to grow as we play against teams that were way better than us.
Minchae: When I actually got to play.
Elizabeth: The best moment for volleyball this year was, ofc when we won the Bangkok tournament. We worked so hard throughout the whole day, and even beat Wells! So we were really proud and in the end, most of us cried because we were so happy.
Anonymous: That one set Luke gave me during our home HOPE game, I had a really good bounce spike and yeah, that day, the team worked really well.
Naomi: Probably the tournaments especially the Bangkok tournament.
Visal: Best moments were playing in Thailand, meeting new people and some friends that are there, and mostly just meeting friends from other schools and making new friends.
Anonymous: Best moments: Mr. Song's volleyball Parties.
Diamondna: Ummm, stay tight as a team! Look out for one another and fight for each other - not with hahahah. Also, just keep playing - it gets hard and you get tired, just keep going.
Luke: Next year I hope that you guys will represent Logos well on and off the court and give it your all regardless of what position you have to play or how often you get put into the game.
Merica: STAY HYPE
Ricky: Win.
Kristen: Make the most of it. Even though some days are especially stressful, keep going. Put in the effort to bond with your teammates and enjoy the time you have with them because looking back after you graduate, being part of the team and having friendships because of volleyball will be something you're really thankful for. Also, play hard and have fun! and beat East-West for us ;)
Darewin: Play well, Practice hard, Come to practice on time, and always play with respect and integrity.
Minchae: Don't miss any practices
Elizabeth: Advice: be aggressive, everything else begins after being you being aggressive because when you're aggressive, you expect the ball, and when u expect the ball, you pass well, if u pass well then the setter will give you good sets, and then followed by a good hit. BE AGGRESSIVE!
Naomi: Give it your all and learn to appreciate your time in volleyball because time goes so fast.
Visal: Advice? Don't be afraid to hit
Anonymous: Advice: My advice to especially to the soon-to-be freshmen... Be prepared to work hard and give it everything you've got. Be aggressive and go for every ball... Don't let the ball touch the ground.
Diamondna: Locally, East West is our top rival. Internationally and overall, Wells is definitely the hardest team to beat. They're very composed and very skillful, so it's always a battle playing against them.
Luke: Wells was definitely the hardest school we played, they dominated us from the start and their experience was simply too much to overcome.
Merica: Wells.
Ricky: Nisc.
Kristen: East-West :/
Darewin: The hardest school to beat was Wells, their amazing control and calm composure was just scary to play against.
Minchae: I'm not sure, but maybe NISC.
Elizabeth: The school that was hardest to beat is East West. Whenever we play against them, our mentality becomes weak and we get all nervous even though when we know we are capable of beating them.
Anonymous: None of the schools were hard to beat, we just beat ourselves, we have free points, meaning, OUR school was the hardest to beat.
Naomi: Probably EWIS or Wells.
Visal: In Thailand, it was Wells, in Cambodia it was NISC and ISPP cause we've never beaten them this year.
Minchae: It was okay.
Elizabeth: I really enjoyed the volleyball season this year, I think the best season we've ever had. We've accomplished a lot and couldn't have asked for a better team. Everyone was really close and I'm really thankful for the captains who are always cheering us on.
Anonymous: This year must've been a really great volleyball season. I think it's the best one I'll ever have for a long time, and I'd like to thank the seniors for that.
Naomi: I really enjoyed meeting a lot of the new members as well as strengthen friendship from last year's.
Visal: Volleyball was fun and there were a lot of pressure cause this is my first time in varsity.
Anonymous: Volleyball season was.. Lots of learning and hustling and trying to soak in suggestions from the varsity members (especially setters).
The volleyball season of 2018 has ended. Many new players have come and many have to go. It may seem like any other volleyball season, but it was different. Cherished memories and moments were made, and they shall be fondly remembered.
