The Senior's Take on the 2024 Volleyball Season
As this year's volleyball season ends, it's important to reflect on what made it unique. A deeper look into the successes, challenges, and growth that the teams experienced provides valuable insight into the season.
What are somethings that the team did really well this season?
"This year the team did a great job overcoming the mental breakdowns. They have always had the skill they needed to succeed but needed to learn to work together and fight for each other as a team. I feel like this year the team did such a great job figuring that out and learning to play as a team and for the team." - Mr. Febus, Girl's Head Coach, G.12 Homeroom Teacher
"Some things the team did well were trusting each other on court and staying disciplined with the plays." - Chhi Chhi Chan, G.12
What was the highlight of the season and why?
"The highlight of the season was Menghak hitting a game-winning pipe and winning us the game. It was amazing and the hit was so powerful." - Odom Dana, G.12
Summarize this volleyball season in a few sentences.
"As a coach my highlights was seeing players not back down from fear and come back and fight hard to play strong. When players came out of the game, reset their emotions and refocus on playing for the team. It was great seeing them do "hands" on their own." - Mr. Febus, G.12 Homeroom Teacher
What will you miss from this year's volleyball team?
As a senior, I'll really miss everything about this last season—the intensity of the games, the grind during summer practices, and the memories we made as a team. This year felt special because I knew it was my last chance to play volleyball at this level with these teammates. The trip to Hawaii was definitely a highlight, but even the everyday moments, like joking around at practice or celebrating after a win, will stick with me.
It's bittersweet knowing it's over, but I'm grateful for everything this season gave me. What I'll miss most is the bond we created on and off the court. - Arjun Mathew, G.12
"One thing I'll miss from this year's vball team is the players. Even though there are more vball teams about there, but it's the players that makes the team unique." - Meiling Pan, G.12
"I will miss playing and growing with my friends/teammates. We used our opportunities as a tool to improve. We joined many tournaments together; won some, lost some, practiced outside of school, went to Hawaii for a volleyball training camp and tournament, and more. Through our ups and downs, we watched each other grow in and outside the sport. Our hard work, time, effort, and dedication paid off, regardless of results. Most importantly, our moments were cherished and our memories are unforgettable."- Garnet Seng, G.12
What is your favorite moment throughout the season that you'll remember forever?
"This season, my favorite moment that I will never forget was during ASAC. Our team came along like no other, the competition was intense, and the atmosphere was amazing. For me, this season was all about hard work, development, and creating priceless memories with my teammates, whether it was a specific game, an important play, or a team-building experience. I was reminded of my passion for volleyball and the importance of this team to me." - Menghak Has, G.12
"My favorite moments happened especially at ASAC, our team was able to reach our peak level and every single player was able to bring the best out of them. This season was an amazing journey and we all learned a lot together, the memories expanding from practices to games and to hanging are all precious to me. I am glad we became the team we were and the bonds we created will stick with me forever."- Meixin Pan, G.12
"The most memorable moment from this season is when my team continued to have fun right after our loss against AIS. The team's mood was down because of the loss, but we were still able to play our next game and enjoy it as well." - Soksin Han, G.12
This season was especially bittersweet for the senior players, who got to experience some lasting memories while playing volleyball as students of Logos for the last time. They poured countless hours and lots of blood, sweat, and tears into making this season an incredible finish to their high school volleyball experience. Their hard work and dedication were especially evident during the ISSAPP and ASAC tournaments. Two of the remarkable team captains, Odom Dana and Chhi Chhi Chrin, were recognized as Tournament All-Stars at the ASAC tournament in Hanoi, Vietnam. Furthermore, Odom was recognized as a tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP). Overall, the players had an amazing performance this season!
